    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WFLA) — A drunk driver slammed into the again of a stopped patrol automobile, sending two males to the hospital and touchdown the driving force in jail, in response to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Workplace.

    On the morning of Dec. 26, Officer Melvin was stopped to assist two males change a tire on the Mathews Bridge when Aleksandr Bratulin, 30, slammed his pickup truck into the again of Melvin’s patrol automobile, inflicting one of many two motorists to be pinned between two autos.

    Physique digicam footage of the incident reveals Officer Melvin instantly calling for rescue earlier than working towards the pickup truck to cease it from rolling backward down the bridge.

    Melvin opens the door to the pickup to see Bratulin slumped over the wheel together with an unconscious passenger within the entrance seat.

    After yelling for Bratulin to step on the brakes, Officer Melvin finally reached in to cease the automobile himself and put the automobile into park earlier than returning to assist the opposite injured motorists.

    Two males suffered critical accidents and have been taken to the hospital for therapy whereas Officer Melvin suffered minor accidents.

    Bratulin faces six counts of DUI with property injury and/or private damage, plus costs for driving below the affect, careless driving, and failure to maneuver over for an emergency automobile.

    An investigation is ongoing.
