    Bicyclist kidnaps woman at knifepoint after her car struck him in Lake City, police say

    LAKE CITY, Fla. – A Lake Metropolis man was arrested on fees of kidnapping, amongst different offenses, Thursday after police stated he held a girl at knifepoint after her automobile struck him.

    The Lake Metropolis Police Division recounted the weird incident in a information launch on Tuesday.

    They stated a girl advised them that she was driving south on NW Ridgewood Avenue on the intersection of West US Hwy 90 when she observed a bicyclist within the crosswalk trying to cross eastbound.

    Police later recognized the bicyclist as 67-year-old Danny Phelps.

    The lady stated she made eye contact with Phelps, who motioned for her to maintain going, however she stated as she began to maneuver her automobile, Phelps jumped in entrance of it along with his bicycle and was hit.

    In line with police, the girl obtained out of her automobile to examine on Phelps as she referred to as police on her cellphone.

    However the lady advised police that when she obtained near Phelps, he slapped her telephone out of her hand and threatened her if she tried to name police.

    In line with LCPD, Phelps then advised the girl to get again within the automobile as he put his bicycle within the rear and climbed into the passenger seat, holding a knife.

    He ordered the girl to take him someplace and once they obtained to the situation, he obtained out, police stated.

    The lady went again to the realm of the kidnapping and referred to as police, in line with the discharge.

    Police responded simply earlier than 1 p.m., and detectives later recognized and arrested Phelps.

    He was charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment, aggravated assault with a lethal weapon and tampering with a witness, in line with the Lake Metropolis Police Division.
