TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in Florida on Friday.
Flags will probably be flown half-staff in honor of Charlotte County Sheriff’s Workplace Cpl. Elio Diaz.
Diaz was fatally shot throughout a site visitors cease on Sunday. The gunman was shot and killed by police later that night time.
“He displayed unbelievable bravery and an unwavering dedication to defending his neighborhood. Corporal Elio Diaz will at all times be remembered for his service,” DeSantis wrote in a memo to Brian Fienemann, Director of Actual Property Administration and Improvement.
