    TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Have you ever seen that these SunPass rip-off textual content messages are lastly beginning to let up? Nicely, a brand new scheme is right here to take their place.

    Scammers are posing as staff of Florida’s “DMV,” referred to as the Florida Division of Freeway Security and Motor Automobiles, the Tax Collector’s Workplace for Polk County warned residents.

    The bogus texts declare that the recipient owes charges from excellent site visitors tickets and has to pay up quickly, or they face dropping their driving privileges and even prison fees.

    Instance of a fraudulent textual content message

    The message features a hyperlink that scammers say residents can entry to settle their stability. The location could look official, however it’s truly designed to steal their fee info.

    The Florida Division of Freeway Security and Motor Automobiles took to social media to remind residents that employees won’t ever try to gather charges over textual content. Scams will be reported to the Florida Lawyer Normal’s Workplace at the link here.
