    Reds beat the Rays, 6-2

    CINCINNATI (AP) — Elly De La Cruz hit a two-run single within the seventh inning to interrupt open a tie recreation and the Cincinnati Reds went on to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 6-2 on Saturday evening.

    The Reds received their third in a row whereas the Rays have misplaced 12 of their final 15 on the street, together with six straight.

    With the rating tied 2-2, De La Cruz’s bloop single off Garrett Cleavinger with the bases loaded put the Reds forward 4-2.

    Graham Ashcraft (6-4) pitched the seventh for the win and Emilio Pagán pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his twenty second save.

    Yandy Díaz led off the sixth together with his 18th residence run to place the Rays forward 1-0.

    It was certainly one of two hits off Reds starter Andrew Abbott, who walked three and struck out seven in six innings.

    Rays starter Ryan Pepiot, an Indianapolis native who grew up a Reds fan and was dealing with them for the primary time, allowed two runs in six innings, however neither was earned.

    The one hit off Pepiot by way of 5 1/3 innings got here when left fielder Christopher Morel misjudged De La Cruz’s fly ball within the first, permitting it to sail over his head and bounce into the stands for a ground-rule double.

    With two outs within the sixth, Austin Hays’ floor ball went underneath Taylor Partitions’ glove for an error, permitting two runs to attain and placing the Reds forward 2-1.

    Bryan Baker (3-4) took the loss.

    Reds supervisor Terry Francona was ejected within the seventh inning by residence plate umpire Willie Traynor for arguing balls and strikes. It was Francona’s 53rd profession ejection, third this season.

    Abbott has allowed one earned run or fewer in 14 of his 17 begins this season.

    Rays RHP Shane Baz (8-6, 4.66 ERA) faces Reds RHP Brady Singer (7-8, 4.84) in Sunday’s sequence finale.
