ESTERO, Fla. (WFLA) — A heated argument between two Florida drivers led to an arrest earlier this week after considered one of them reportedly pulled out a machete.
Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Workplace stated they obtained a name from a girl who advised them she had simply been concerned in a street rage incident round 5:22 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16.
The opposite driver concerned, later recognized as 33-year-old Phillip Mark Zmijewski, had reportedly fled the scene earlier than deputies arrived.
The altercation started after Zmijewski began tailgating the girl and flashing his lights, the sheriff’s workplace stated.
He reportedly adopted her for a number of blocks earlier than the scenario escalated on the intersection of Through Rapallo Drive and Through Villagio Parkways in Estero.
That is when Zmijewski stepped out of his automobile, took out a machete and approached the girl, officers stated, including that the girl was “in worry for (her) life.”
The lady was in a position to give deputies an outline of the suspect, and the sheriff’s workplace stated they shortly situated Zmijewski, “who instantly knew why deputies have been there.”
Zmijewski was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault with a lethal weapon.
“No driver must be in worry whereas on the street,” Sheriff Carmine Marceno stated in an announcement. “Street Rage or violent exchanges of any variety will not be tolerated. My deputies are devoted to defending the residents of Lee County each on and off our streets.”
