ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday named Florida Legal professional Common Ashley Moody to fill the soon-to-be open U.S. Senate seat left by Marco Rubio, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for Secretary of State.
Moody, a Plant Metropolis native, has served as Florida Legal professional Common since January 2019. She succeeded Pam Bondi, Trump’s nominee for U.S. Legal professional Common.
She beforehand served as assistant U.S. legal professional and a circuit courtroom decide in Hillsborough County.
DeSantis stated Moody will probably be a champion for conservative causes within the Senate and a staunch ally for Trump, having taken on the Biden administration in a number of lawsuits through the years.
“I can’t let the residents of Florida down, and I can’t let my nation down,” Moody stated minutes after DeSantis introduced her appointment.
