HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (WFLA) — For the second time this 12 months, a Florida Democratic lawmaker has switched their celebration affiliation after successful their seat.
State Consultant Hillary Cassel introduced on Friday that she could be switching from the Democratic Celebration to the Republican Celebration.
In a press release launched on X, the social media platform previously often called Twitter, Cassel expressed disappointment by the Democratic celebration in a perceived failure to point out help for Israel.
“As a proud Jewish girl, I’ve been more and more troubled by the Democratic Celebration’s failure to unequivocally help Israel and its willingness to tolerate excessive progressive voices that justify or condone acts of terrorism,” mentioned Cassel, including that she will be able to “now not stay in a celebration that does not characterize her values.”
Cassel has served as a consultant for the a hundred and first district in Florida since 2022.
She is the second Democrat to make the swap, following within the footsteps of State Consultant Susan Valdes, who modified events earlier this month.
