    COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — Building of “Alligator Alcatraz,” a brand new immigration detention facility, has begun after Florida leaders accredited the plan on Monday.

    NBC affiliate WBBH reported that the power will probably be positioned on the Dade-Collier Coaching and Transition Airport, an deserted airstrip that straddles the Miami-Dade and Collier County line.

    State officers advised the information station that the positioning will home about 5,000 immigrants dwelling within the U.S. illegally beginning in July 2025.
