    Vice President-elect JD Vance resigns from the Senate

    COLUMBUS, Ohio – Vice President-elect JD Vance is resigning from his seat within the U.S. Senate, efficient Friday.

    Vance made his intentions recognized in a letter Thursday to Ohio Republican Gov. Mike DeWine, who will choose his successor.

    “As I put together to imagine my duties as Vice President of the USA, I wish to specific that it has been an incredible honor and privilege to serve the folks of Ohio within the Senate over the previous two years,” Vance wrote within the letter.

    In a separate assertion launched by Vance, the outgoing senator nodded to his hardscrabble roots rising up in Appalachia.

    DeWine has stated he would make the appointment as soon as Vance vacates the seat. DeWine’s spokesperson stated DeWine was at a governors’ occasion with Trump at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday night, making it unlikely he would announce any appointment earlier than Friday.

    DeWine has the only responsibility of appointing a successor to Vance, who was elected to a six-year time period in 2022.
