    New Orleans attack: 2 Florida women among the nearly 3 dozen injured

    NEW ORLEANS, La. (WFLA) — Two Fort Myers girls have been amongst these injured after a person drove right into a crowd on Bourbon Road on New Yr’s Day, in keeping with reviews by NBC affiliate WESH.

    Elle Eisele and Steele Idelson, each age 19, have been taken to a hospital for therapy after the incident, which is being investigated by the FBI as a terrorist assault.

    As of Thursday, Jan. 2, each girls have been being handled within the trauma ICU, and Idelson was set to endure surgical procedure, WESH reported.

    New Yr’s celebrations have been simply wrapping up in New Orleans’ French Quarter district when the assault befell.

    Police mentioned the suspect, 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar from Texas, slammed into the group at 3:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1, whereas driving a rented pickup truck.

    Jabbar then opened fireplace on police, injuring two officers, in keeping with reviews. He was later killed by regulation enforcement on the scene.

    In complete, a minimum of 15 folks have been killed and 35 have been injured.

    In response to WESH, Eisele and Idelson each graduated from Canterbury Faculty in Fort Myers in 2023.

    Eisele is presently a scholar on the College of Georgia, whereas Idelson attends San Diego State College.
