    Guatemalan Man Indicted in Jacksonville on Federal Fraud and Immigration Charges

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A federal grand jury has indicted a Guatemalan nationwide on a number of costs associated to immigration fraud and unlawful reentry into the US, in response to the U.S. Lawyer’s Workplace for the Center District of Florida.

    Diego Andres Garcia, 45, faces costs of possessing false paperwork, falsely representing a Social Safety quantity, and illegally reentering the US after deportation. If convicted, Garcia may withstand 10 years in federal jail for the doc fraud cost, as much as 5 years for the Social Safety violation, and as much as two years for the unlawful reentry offense.

    Court docket information point out that in July 2024, Homeland Safety Investigations (HSI) carried out a office immigration compliance inspection at a development firm in Jacksonville. Investigators allege that Garcia submitted a counterfeit Everlasting Resident card and Social Safety card and misrepresented his immigration standing to realize employment.

    The case is being investigated by Homeland Safety Investigations and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Lawyer Kevin C. Frein.

    Garcia’s costs are a part of Operation Take Again America, a Division of Justice initiative focusing on immigration violations and transnational legal exercise.

    An indictment is a proper accusation, and Garcia is presumed harmless until confirmed responsible in a court docket of regulation.
