JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Department of the NAACP says it stands with Metropolis Councilman Jimmy Peluso after he boycotted a committee assembly, leading to his elimination.
In a press release launched on Friday, the NAACP voiced its outrage about what it known as the “censorship of metropolis leaders who train their proper to vote opposite to [Council President Kevin Carrico’s] political agenda.”
Peluso, a Democrat, boycotted the assembly of the Transportation, Power & Utilities Committee by not exhibiting up due to what he known as “inappropriate actions and poor council management.”

Carrico, a Republican, stated Peluso’s boycott of the assembly confirmed an “unwillingness to point out up and do the work,” so he was faraway from the committee.
Peluso additionally stated Councilman Matt Carlucci was lowered to solely serve on one committee, which isn’t normally the norm on town council.
In response to the NAACP, Carrico’s choice was “centered on scoring political factors slightly than prioritizing one of the best pursuits of town of Jacksonville.”
The group issued a name for residents to demand that “elected officers uphold their tasks to the constituents they serve.”
