ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) — A suspended central Florida sheriff was launched from jail on Thursday, three weeks after he was accused of benefiting from an unlawful playing operation.
Marcos Lopez, who was suspended by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis following his arrest, was rushed out of the Lake County Jail and didn’t communicate to reporters, in response to NBC affiliate WESH.
He was positioned behind bars on June 5, and charged with racketeering and conspiracy to commit racketeering. Prosecutors alleged Lopez benefited from an unlawful playing operation courting again to 2019 that generated over $21 million in income.
A choose ordered him to be held on a $1 million bond.
A number of others have been arrested in connection to the operation, including Lopez’s wife and three co-defendants.
