    FORT MYERS, Fla. (WFLA) — A person is going through costs after Fort Myers police stated he shot his neighbor’s 2-year-old pit bull, injuring the canine to the purpose the place it needed to be euthanized.

    Merci-Dieu Ferd Frenot, 33, was arrested and charged with aggravated animal cruelty inflicting extreme ache or loss of life following the Could 15 incident, in response to the Fort Myers Police Division.

    NBC affiliate WBBH spoke with the canine’s proprietor, Kenneth Baker, who insisted that his pet was not a risk.

    “Canine are good. Should you deal with them good, they’re fairly good,” Baker stated, including that his canine named Victor would let anybody pet him or “stroll up on him.”

    Victor was within the yard when Frenot’s mom walked by Thursday. The canine started barking, and that is when issues went south.

    Frenot instructed police he thought he heard his mom scream, and fearing for her security, he grabbed a gun and bumped into his neighbor’s yard.

    “He bought his gun, and also you come working proper right here and, ‘You bothered my mama!’ Bam bam bam bam bam,” Baker stated, recalling the second.

    Officers stated Frenot shot Victor no less than 4 occasions. They discovered the injured canine about two blocks away close to Marsh Avenue with extreme wounds. He was taken to Colonial Veterinary Officer however needed to be euthanized.

    Frenot’s mom confirmed to police that the canine had not attacked her. Baker remembered listening to her pleading along with her son, telling him, “Do not you do this. Do not do this.”

    Frenot’s bond was set at $50,000, and he posted bond later Friday afternoon. He was additionally ordered to give up all firearms and keep away from the victims and their house.
