    Florida deputy shot, killed in line of duty while working volunteer shift

    WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Walton County Sheriff’s Workplace introduced the loss of life of Deputy William Could who was concerned in a taking pictures in Mossy Head on Wednesday afternoon.

    Deputy Could was not alleged to be working, however volunteered for an time beyond regulation shift. He was responding to a name at a Greenback Common on Lancelot Street, a couple of block north of Freeway 90.

    Sheriff Mike Atkinson acknowledged Deputy Could had a quick 10 to fifteen second dialogue, with the suspect. He says the suspect exited the shop with Deputy Could strolling behind him. The suspect then drew a gun and fired various instances at Could. Deputy Could was in a position to attract his gun and return hearth. The suspect died on scene.

    Deputy Could was capable of name for help. Walton County Fireplace Rescue, and EMT responded to the scene and transported Could to North Okaloosa Medical Heart. Atkinson says surgeons and medical doctors labored on Could for 4 hours however Could succumbed to the gun shot wounds.

    Atkinson confirmed Deputy Could was sporting a ballistic vest which stopped a number of of the rounds. However the Sheriff says one spherical went beneath the vest, which was the shot that reportedly killed Could.

    Sheriff Atkinson says he will probably be working to offer assist for Deputy Could’s household throughout this troublesome time.
