    Man shot in neck by boy's father during custody exchange at Publix: affidavit

    WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — A person is accused of taking pictures a person within the neck throughout a custody change of an 8-year-old boy at a West Palm Seashore Publix.

    In line with an affidavit, 28-year-old Joseph Halford was ready within the car parking zone on Friday for his 8-year-old son to be dropped off by the kid’s mom, Brittany Ferguson, and her boyfriend, Carlton Matthews.

    Ferguson informed officers with the West Palm Seashore Police Division that her boyfriend parked their car subsequent to Halford’s, and acquired out to satisfy Halford, who was already standing subsequent to his automotive.

    Halford claimed that the boyfriend used his index and center finger to make a gun gesture and pressed it into his head. He informed officers that he was solely there to get his son and never take care of the boyfriend.

    When the suspect’s son, Jacob, acquired out of the mom’s car, he grabbed the kid and put him behind his automotive. That is when the boyfriend informed him, “I spared you due to your son,” in keeping with the affidavit.

    That is when Halford pulled a semi-automatic 9mm Taurus out from his left armpit and fired a single shot, hanging the person within the neck. The affidavit stated the gunshot struck the entrance of his throat and exited the rear of his neck. In the meantime, Halford claimed the firearm was pointed at his head and chest space and that he didn’t intend to kill him.

    Halford’s cousin informed authorities that he known as her, showing to be “in a panic,” asking her to come back to the Publix. He informed her he fired the gun after the boyfriend reached towards his belt line.

    When police arrived, the sufferer was discovered with a gunshot wound and was taken to a close-by hospital for therapy.

    Halford was arrested on a cost of tried felony homicide with a firearm. He’s being held with out bond.
