TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A cruise ship carrying 158 passengers and crew members with norovirus docked in Florida on Saturday.
The Holland America Eurodam returned to Port Everglades after a 10-day journey across the Caribbean.
The Facilities for Illness Management and Prevention started monitoring a norovirus outbreak on the ship on Feb. 23. The CDC report states 148 out of two,057 passengers, or 7%, have been sick. The sickness affected 10 of 834 crew members, or 1.2%.
These affected by the sickness reported experiencing vomiting and diarrhea, which was decided to be brought on by norovirus.
In response to the outbreak, the cruise line reported that it remoted sick passengers, upped its sanitization procedures and consulted with well being officers to watch the unfold of the sickness.
The newest Holland America Line outbreak is the fifth cruise ship norovirus outbreak tracked by the CDC this yr. The Holland America Rotterdam docked in Florida on Feb. 14 with 169 norovirus sufferers.
