Feds cut funding from LGBTQ history museum in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Trump administration reduce funding from the Stonewall Nationwide Museum, Archives & Library in Fort Lauderdale.

Robert Kesten, the museum’s chief government officer, stated the nonprofit goals to advertise understanding of the lesbian, homosexual, bisexual, and transgender communities.

Kesten stated he and the museum’s supporters are contemplating choices to ensure the mission retains going.

“It’s so necessary to have a presence in a spot that doesn’t need you. You need to go the place the struggle is,” Kesten stated.

The museum is known as after the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York Metropolis, which marked the start of the LGBTQ rights motion.

Kesten stated the group is dedicated to elevating the funds wanted to maintain the doorways open.

The theme of the third annual gala is “Standing on the Shoulders of Heroes” and will probably be held at 6 p.m., on March 1, at 2345 Wilton Drive, in Wilton Manors.
