BELLE GLADE, Fla. (WFLA) — A 3-year-old boy by accident shot himself within the hand with a handgun that was left on the sofa, based on an arrest affidavit.
On Monday, detectives with the Palm Seaside County Sheriff’s Workplace responded to Lakeside Medical Heart in Belle Glade to analyze the occasions main as much as the kid’s damage.
It was found the toddler shot himself within the left hand with the loaded CZ P-10 S handgun that was left on a sofa.
An investigator with the Division of Kids and Households spoke to the younger boy on the hospital about his damage when he advised them, “I shot it with a gun…I shot myself! I shot it! I used to be crying.”
A neighbor advised detectives they heard one gunshot, adopted by a baby’s scream. The scream was heard on the neighbor’s ring digicam video, accompanied by the kid seen strolling towards the parking zone whereas holding his hand, the affidavit mentioned.

Mathis was charged with baby neglect and culpable negligence. He’s set to be arraigned on April 28.
